Jodie has been in the child care industry for just a little over 30 years. And in that time she has seen a great deal of change, some for the better and some that can be improved upon. "I believe that we need to be constantly growing and examining what we are teaching and learning.'

There are not too many people that can claim a thirty-year history in regards to the childcare industry. When Jodie started in childcare the year was 1982 and back in the day there were no certifications or criminal record checks or even basic first-aid as a qualification for working with young children. The childcare industry has come a very long way since then and has made some remarkable improvements.

In Jodie’s  30 years of childcare experience, she has  worked as a Child Care worker in seven Child Care Center’s in three provinces, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia. She started as an assistant Preschool Teacher, for West Hills Preschool in 1982 and has continued working in the Child Care industry ever since. Her more recent positions have been a Preschool Teacher for the Linda Howarth Memorial Preschool in Salmon Arm B.C. As well, for eight of those 30 years she has also worked as a Special Needs Worker. Her last position was in 2012 as a Senior Special Needs Supervisor for a Child Care facility in Victoria B.C.

Mrs. Jodie (as she is known by the children) has her B.C. ECEA Teacher’s certification and her facility is licensed by the Kelowna BC Interior Health Authority.  She has also taught as an Art Instructor for over seventeen years, and is a recognized Wildlife Artist, bringing a wealth of knowledge and an artistic flair to the young children in her care.

As well as her education in Early Child Care, Jodie has taken several psychology courses. She is also the mother of three grown children, John, Jennifer and Joseph. And, yes, she also has her First-Aid & CPR and a Criminal Record check, both of which are current and up-to-date.

Because of her love of nature and the time that she has spent outdoors, Jodie decided to create a child care centre that would balance the Early Childhood ciriculum with the greatly needed outdoor time and exploration.

Jennifer Roggeveen received her BFA  (Bachelor of Fine Arts) from the University of British Columbia in the spring of 2013. Jennifer was once a student of her mother's while Jodie taught art thus inspiring Jennifer to further her studies in the art industry. Since graduating, Jennifer is currently working on creating a graphic novel and continues working on different art projects.

Jennifer worked for her mother in a centre that she owned and operated in Cochrane Alberta from September 1999 to July of 2004. Jennifer is now interested in working with young children and is currently enrolled in a program for Early Childhood Education and is certified as an ECEA. Jennifer is currently working towards completing her ECE and later her IT.

Jennifer’s patience, creativity, humor and loving nature make her an excellent child care teacher. Her attention to detail and observation skills are a huge benefit to Nature's Kids Educational Child Care.

Jennifer also has her First-Aid & CPR Certification and a current criminal record check.

Together, Mrs. Jodie & Mrs. Jenny are a team filled with creativity, loads of fun and humor and a tenacity for the children’s health, safety and education.
